Christmas & Permanent Light Installation in Signal Mountain, TN

Seasonal displays and year-round architectural lighting for Signal Mountain homes seen from the valley.

Lighting built for Signal Mountain rooflines

Signal Mountain is the one town in the metro where a display is designed for two audiences at once. A house up here is seen from its own street and, on the brow, from the valley floor well below, so the outline of the roofline carries far more of the effect than the detail does. The housing is largely older and substantial — stone and brick, steep pitches, dormers, additions made over decades — and it sits on ground that is rarely flat and usually wooded.

That pushes the work toward a clean permanent outline. A track under the roofline gives the long sightline something consistent to read every night of the year, and it removes what makes Signal Mountain jobs different: ladder and lift work on a steep, wet, wooded lot in November. Where a house has the trim detail to justify it we still build seasonal displays — they just get booked early, because these are the installs that most need dry days.

What a Signal Mountain install actually takes

Access is most of the job. Steep drives, narrow shoulders, mature trees and roofs broken up by dormers and additions mean the lift position, not the design, decides how long an install runs. We walk the property and settle access first. Fixings are then chosen for the actual edge, because older stone and brick houses rarely present the uniform fascia a newer subdivision does.

Weather has more say up here than in the valley. The mountain runs colder and wetter than central Chattanooga and ice sits longer, so we favour fixings that will still be holding in January over whatever is fastest to fit in October. Get on the calendar early: dry days on the mountain are the constraint, not crew time.

What we install

Christmas & Seasonal

Full-service holiday displays: design, commercial-grade lights, installation, in-season service, then takedown and storage.

JellyFish Permanent

Track-mounted permanent lighting tucked under the roofline. Millions of colors, app controlled, holiday or everyday.

Bosso Smart Lighting

A permanent lighting alternative with its own fixture and control system. We fit it to homes JellyFish does not suit.

Commercial & HOA

Storefronts, offices, common areas and entrances, scheduled installs that work around your business hours.

Christmas and seasonal light installation in Signal Mountain

Seasonal lighting is a full service, not a box of lights from a shelf. We design the display around your roofline, install commercial-grade product cut to fit your house, and service it through the season if anything goes dark. After the holidays we take it down and store it until next year, so nothing lives in your garage and nothing gets crushed between seasons.

Booking order decides the calendar. Installs run in the order they are booked, so the earliest dates go to whoever called first. If you want the lights on before the first weekend of December, get on the list well before the season starts.

Permanent outdoor lighting in Signal Mountain

Permanent lighting is a slim track fixed under the roofline that stays up all year and reads as trim from the street. Run warm white on an ordinary evening, color through December, orange and white for a Saturday in autumn, or switch it off entirely. It is all controlled from an app, so nobody climbs anything.

We install two systems. JellyFish is the one most people have heard of and we are an authorized dealer. Bosso is an alternative with its own fixture and control system that suits some rooflines better. We bring both to the consult and tell you which fits your house, including when that is the cheaper option.

Commercial and HOA lighting in Signal Mountain

We light storefronts, offices, entrances and common areas as well as homes. Commercial work is scheduled around your trading hours so the install never costs you a business day, and a larger property can be phased across several visits.

If an HOA, a landlord or a historic district has rules about fixture color, brightness or where a track may sit, bring them to the consult and we design to them from the start rather than asking for an exception later.

Signal Mountain questions we get asked

We say we live on Signal Mountain. Is that the same as the Town of Signal Mountain?
Not always, and this is the one that trips people up. Signal Mountain is also a colloquial name for the part of Walden Ridge around the town, so an address up here can sit in the Town of Signal Mountain, the neighboring Town of Walden, or unincorporated Fairmount. They aren't the same for permitting. The town runs its own building and codes department on Ridgeway Avenue. Walden doesn't do its own inspections at all and sends people to Hamilton County. We confirm which one you're in before quoting.
Is there anything your crew needs on file before you can work here?
Yes, and it's worth knowing your installer has it. The Town of Signal Mountain permits through an online portal that requires a contractor access code set up in advance, and contractors have to carry current liability and workers comp with the town named as certificate holder. That's not a same-day setup. An installer who hasn't worked up here before starts behind.
Our house is on the brow. Will it look right from the valley?
That's the first thing we design for. A house on the brow gets seen from its own street and from the valley floor a thousand feet below, and at that distance almost all of the effect comes from the outline of the roofline. Detail doesn't survive the trip. So the long sightline gets settled first and the close view second, which is the reverse of how we'd approach a house in town.
The driveway is steep and narrow. Can you get equipment up it?
Usually. Access decides the schedule up here more than the design does, so we walk it and work out where a lift can sit before anything gets booked.
It's colder and icier than in town. Will the fixings hold?
That's why we pick them the way we do. The mountain runs colder and wetter than the valley and ice sits longer into January, so we fix to structure and choose the mounting that'll still be holding in February over whatever goes up fastest in October. Hixson's ridge-side lots get some of the same treatment, though nothing down there matches the mountain for freeze-thaw.
